This jug is a collectable piece of antique British silver plate made by John Sherwood & Sons of Birmingham England.
Dated in the late 19th early 20th century.
It is a beautifully crafted piece of commercial British tableware and is stamped very clearly on the bottom EPNS which means electro-plated nickel silver.
It is constructed from a sturdy base alloy of nickel, copper, and zinc electrically coated with a beautiful, micro-thin layer of real, pure silver.
Also stamped on the bottom is a beaver which was the official, trademarked logo of John Sherwood & Sons, a prolific manufacturer based in Birmingham. The final stamp is of a Cross in a Shield which is a pseudo-hallmark used by the manufacturer.
Measurements:
12cm across from lip to handle and 5.5cm from base to rim of jug.
Perfect for:
• Serving cream or milk with tea & coffee
• A vintage tea-time display
• Collectors of antique silver plate
• Elegant shelf or kitchen décor
• A thoughtful gift for the vintage lover
