How to get care

Patients can be registered on the Hospice Programme by a family member/ friend, hospital/ clinic or private/government practitioners. We require a referral form from the attending doctor regarding the diagnosis and staging of the disease. After discussion in our interdisciplinary team we will determine if the patient falls within our admission criteria.

Our Palliative Care trained sisters will then assess the patient at home, in hospital, or at a frail care facility. Treatment and care are undertaken in accordance with the needs of the patient. We assist with pain and symptom -control (in consultation with the patient’s medical practitioner), as well as provide supportive care to the family and carers. Due to limited resources, we cannot offer 24-hour nursing care, However, we can assist patients with information about available facilities and nursing agencies.
