Yogya Indonesian Repousse 800 silver napkin ring. Hand chaised with a beautiful floral design. In perfect vintage condition.
Round shape with scalopped rims. Surface decorated with rich hand made relief: in the centre is a big lotus flower with leaf wreath, surrounded by tendrils and buds. Marked.
The napkin rings are so called “Yogya silver” from Jakarta, Indonesia.
In 1930 the governors wife suggested to refresh the old silver manufacturing and trade and to create items for European consumers.
After the independence of Indonesia 1949 the silver industry flourished well. The napkin rings were created in the 1950ties.
They are marked with the initials of the unknown silversmith.
Measurements: 4.5cm in diameter and 4.5cm in height.
