This beautiful antique wash bowl and jug is a rare find and hard to come by these days.
Dating back to the Victorian era, this set is in remarkably good condition but there are significant hairline cracks all over the bowl and jug.
At some time an attempt was made to fill in these hairline cracks so both the bowl and the jug are covered with what appears to be a white filler paint. This is noticeable in some areas.
There is also a small chip in the lip of the jug. The gold edging has worn away in many places due to age and use.
The set has a beautifully hand painted floral motif picked out in gold in the ‘Marguerite’ pattern.
It was made prior to 1891 because the word ‘England’ was added to the ‘Beehive’ mark after this date.
It was made by Dunn Bennett & Co and the maker’s mark is clearly stamped on the base of the jug and bowl.
