Description
Cruet set two-piece silver and crystal. Pre owned in good antique condition. Value R1 400
Characterful Edwardian silver and English cut crystal cruet set consisting of a petite salt bowl, mustard mug and 2 silver spoons.
The silver hallmarks on both the salt bowl and mustard mug rim show:
GEW – George Edwin Walton. Anchor – Birmingham. Lion passant – Sterling silver g – date stamp denoting 1906
The Salt bowl is in a used condition with some visible dents and bumps on the silver rim, and several chips on the facets of the cut crystal, which do not necessarily detract from the appeal of the item.
The mustard mug is also in a lesser used condition. The silver rim has some tarnishing, and the handle is slightly distorted , and may even be a replacement handle. The cut crystal facets have a few tiny chips too.
The 2 small sterling silver spoons (different makers and eras) compliment this unusual and attractive set.
