Wood and Metal Antique Collectible Museum Piece late 19th Century.
Rare find, this harmonica was made by Christian Weiss’ harmonica company which was in business between 1872 and late 1890s.
It is a ‘Three Little Boys’ model in the key of C with 12 double holes and 24 reeds.
This harmonica features a brown painted wood comb with metal cover plates attached with screws to the sides.
It has engraving on both sides of the metal: Front: Three Little Boys; Back has 8 markings which are WIEN 1873, LONDON 1891.
TRADE MARK [bell], CHICAGO 1893, STUTTGART 1881, CH. WEISS, and GES.GESCHUTZT on one end.
Made in Germany on the other end.
Because of these markings, the date of this harmonica must be 1893 or later. All markings are very legible.
The instrument is in good antique condition, with some pitting and rust in the metal on the sides.
It has half of the original box which is well worn and has no lid.
Measurements: 10 cm long x 3cm wide.
