The mug is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing.
This is a lovely porcelain commemorative mug of the 1947 Royal Visit to South Africa made by Crown Devon, England.
The mug is 10cms tall and has embossed faces of the Royal Couple on the front with ‘Royal Visit 1947’ embossed lettering also on the front.
The national animal of South Africa, the Springbok, is embossed on the back with the words ‘South Africa’.
A thin hand painted band of orange, white and blue is around the base of the mug depicting the colors of the South African flag at the time.
This, along with the orange band to rim and handle, gives this item an Art Deco look.
